[Journal and Event]
I quite literally just woke up in the hospital.
What did I miss?
[Event]
*As Tarou said, he's totally in the hospital.
... and is also handcuffed to the bed, so he legitimately isn't going anywhere at this point. The date is the 30th of December, just more than a day off from it being the New Year.
And he's probably gonna be questioned a lot.
But at the least, you can probably convince the guard to let a visitor or two in.*

... Honestly?
I feel like I haven't eaten in three weeks.

[He's standing up. There's probably a nurse outside the door, so he's going to be requesting some food for the patient by sticking his head outside. He pulls himself back inside and shuts the door.]
Haita Onni. I'm with the Supernatural Security Division known as OOPARTS. Do you understand why I've been waiting for you to regain consciousness?
[...Ah.]
no subject
Which I can already tell you, I know I'm outweighing that, but I understand that formalities are always in order.
no subject
[Sighs. I never get to do this by the book.]
You were controlled by an evil entity who attempted to unleash itself and a horde of monsters on Domino City, and exhibited, according to all eyewitnesses accounts at the scene - those of both mine and other collaborates - the powers associated with a Dark Signer.
Do you retain any memories of these events?
no subject
Oh, the horde of monsters part is new. I didn't expect that. *he tries to adjust himself best as he can in this case*
But yes, I'm aware that the Earthbound God, Chacu Challhua, grasped control of my physical body away from me-- though anything after that is sketchy. I remember...
I remember being struck several times, and an explosion, but my memory goes blank for the most part.
no subject
I can fill you in on that detail, at least.
Yuuki Juudai and Samasu Shian initiated a duel with the Earthbound God having taken possession of your mortal body - Chacu Challhua, in this case.
In order to take you down non-lethally, Samasu Shian used the card 'Black Gem Bomb' to force a draw. At which point, the ritual lines completed, and Chacu Challhua was seemingly exorcised from your body.
Do you remember setting up this ritual?
no subject
Oh, yes. I can admit to that. I remember setting up the ritual circle. Using several different sources of historical exorcism methods in order to fine-tune it. It took me a long time to do it, given the scope necessary for a god-- around the past year and a half?
I also remember that Chacu Challhua had manipulated the circle at some point...? But I guess Samasu wasn't bluffing about noticing the problem at the last second, if Chacu Challhua is gone.
no subject
[Flipping a page.]
For the last year and a half, so it would be safe to assume that you - or, rather Chacu Challhua - was behind the mysterious disappearances that have been plaguing Domino for the past 18 to 24 months, or so?
no subject
I'm sure I can't take all of the credit, but--
Yes. I'll admit to that. It was in order to feed Chacu Challhua-- who in turn, had stabilized my existence until this recent point. Though I can't say anymore where situations were really myself doing the act, or Chacu Challhua. But since he isn't here anymore, the blame falls upon me.
no subject
[Flipping a page.]
That does bring me to my next subject. Namely: It was said that you are a dimensionally-displaced alternate of one "Yamada, Mamoru", who was on the scene at the time. Is this... correct?
no subject
That is correct. I am "Yamada, Mamoru"-- a version of him who met an untimely death, and was subsequently revived with promises of revenge.
And... Quite honestly, I don't know what's going to happen to me on that front, at this point.
no subject
[Taking a pen and scribbling down notes.]
So this untimely end is what attracted Chacu Challhua to you. About how long would you say this relationship had been going on, based on your own perception of time?
no subject
*that's an extremely long time, especially compared to how long the other Dark Signers were active for...*
no subject
Right, well, let's see if I can't offer you some good news, for all the grilling I've done you.
[Sorts the papers a bit neatly.]
Based on your responses and the circumstances, I am relatively sure that, legally speaking, you will be acquitted of all blame under the Malevolent Entities Charter. Ultimately, such a long-term possession is bound to have long-term ramifications on your mental state, and as the existence of Chacu Challhua - and its manifestation - can be proven to be the primary instigator of these incidents, we can safely conclude that, in its absence, such incidents will not rear their head again.
Obviously, in order to take maximum precautions, we'll likely be handing you over to the Spirit-Arcadia Institute for them to confirm there are no lingering echos of Chacu Challhua residing within you.
As for the matter of your... corporeality. You don't seem to be in danger of fading from this dimension, barring, you know, the usual mortal ways of expiration. I can't confirm you'll stay that way, and it might behoove you to get in contact with either Shian or Yuuki when you can, but I don't think you're at sudden risk of... 'de-manifestation', as it were.
no subject
Well... that is good to hear, at least. But.
I do think I'm at risk for eventual de-manifestation. It's why I needed to move ahead with everything at this point. Not that I think what I need to do is possible, anymore.
Even if the exorcism worked for me, it didn't get what's inside of the other "Mamoru" out, now did it.
no subject
[Flipping a page, training his eye on you.]
I'd like to hear more from you regarding that.
no subject
*he sits up a bit, but still looking worn out*
Yes. Having done enough research on it-- the events surrounding it, the physiological transformation he's gone through, the interest that the beings known as the "Barians" have in him, I've come to the conclusion that either the possession simply had a long-term physical effect on him, as a result of the spirit "dying" inside of him...
Or, the one known as "Artifact Scythe" is really the one that's in control of him, but has come under the delusion, the belief, that he is "Yamada, Mamoru".
And, well, in most cases I guess, that wouldn't really be anyone's business if it's the case. It's not exactly a malevolent spirit, now is it? Even a fake can be real enough if it believes it's real.
But in my case, I can't really challenge him to assert my existence, if there's any third-parties involved. Though I guess I've gotten the biggest third-party out of the way, now.
no subject
[He listens, quietly and intently. The physiological changes were obvious, but admittedly he hadn't considered the possibility that the dying Artifact Scythe may have adopted Mamoru's identity wholesale.]
So, ultimately, you believe that your de-manifestation will occur due to the presence of the Yamada, Mamoru that our dimension holds - that may or may not possessed by the Artifact Scythe that believes themselves to be Mamoru.
As you cannot assert your right to that identity, you believe you won't be able to continue existing in this world as a result.
Do I have that right?
no subject
After all, I'm pretty sure whatever world I came from is gone, by now. "Pruned" would be the word for it. It's only fair that if I can't assert myself here, then I'll be "pruned" as well, eventually.
no subject
[Why can I never remember the name of it. 'Dying Rose Garden'? Ugh. He hrms.]
That conclusion checks out. However, the fact you're even in this dimension at all, at this point, usually proves that you've managed to assert enough of an existence to anchor yourself to our timeline. Not as Yamada Mamoru, perhaps. But it would certainly seem you're dimensionally stable, to a degree.
You are not, shall we say, the first person who has arrived here from a different world and timeline. The Spirit-Arcadia institute might know more than me in terms of whether your existence is fully stabilized or whether we have to do other rituals to fully anchor your existence.
I think I can speak for those that dueled you that they'd be rather put out if you were to simply vanish after they went to the effort of making sure you didn't die in the midst of the fight.
no subject
I just... I don't know if I'm really that stable. I did have a god backing my existence this whole time, you realize. And now I don't even have the claim that I'm a "Dark Signer" to establish myself, anymore.
... In fact, he's the only reason I was able to fully come over here. That and the weird cursed dorm at Duel Academy. That place was-- is, very useful. Very spacious. Incredibly, utterly cursed. *he's rambling a little*
no subject
And, yes, I'm aware. I'm just telling you what I know - you haven't tried to disappear out of your hospital bed, despite having been severed from your god. There may be other factors we're unaware of, but for now all I can tell you is there's no real risk of you vanishing based on my observations.
[He scratches the back of his head.]
Best guess? Being in the center of that exorcism also anchored you to this reality, because it might have had a harder time affecting you if you weren't. But that's me spitballing. I'm an engineer, not a thaumaturge.
no subject
Kinda wish I could ask that cat for more details on how this'd work out...
no subject
'That cat'...?
no subject
Though I think it's deposed now, but I don't really entirely understand what happened to the one who overtook it.
But getting details on transdimensional situations is so troublesome overall...
*his stomach grumbles loudly*
... you wouldn't happen to know if that food's coming soon, would you? I might be in more danger of starving than vanishing, anytime soon.
