[Story]

You're stalling. You're avoiding. You're procrastinating. You're--

Tarou had to try to block out the voice that echoed inside of his head-- the one that wasn't his own, yet was ever present. He'd been making excuses, a lot of excuses, admittedly, to avoid taking the next step possible. 'I need to refine the marks.', or 'The scheduling isn't right.', and now time was rapidly starting to get away from him. That last major sacrifice kept him going for a very long time, but now, he was starting to get in trouble.

And the god hanging off of his spine knew it quite well. It was amazing just how patient it was in the grander scheme of things, but even they were starting to get aggravated and its' host's own hesitance.

What exactly are you afraid of? What do you feel will happen, to avoid doing this? You have been keeping thoughts from me...

Tarou dared to speak aloud, matter-of-factly. "Of course I keep thoughts from you. Do you really want to be bombarded by every idle line that goes through my mind? You should be thanking me for not annoying you with 'girl pretty', or 'that frog has a cool design', or anything so simple."

Of course, the Earthbound God didn't appreciate the attempt at sarcasm, as Tarou quickly knew, feeling the stabbing pain going up his back.

You are aware of what I mean. Your thoughts have felt misleading for some time.

"Aah-- haa-- Iii don't know what you're-- talking abo-- stop squeezing at my back, I can't do anything if you break it, you know!" Tarou snapped out, feeling the pressure easing up immediately, and being relatively thankful at the seclusion that the forest offered.

If need be, I can find someone else to attach myself to, and do away with you. Perhaps your doppelganger will suffer an unfortunate accident...

Tarou seemed to wave off the voice physically. "No, not him, you wouldn't like him. You'd just be dealing with me again, but even more unmotivated."

Bizarrely, Tarou sensed amusement from the god-- the bad type, that gave him a bit of a sickening pit.

Perhaps, instead, the nephew of your doppelganger. He seems eager to assist with matters, persuading him would be simple, if such a situation occurred...

Tarou bristled a little. "Just keep Akira out of this. I'll get this done, even if it kills me again."

You have one week.

"... what?" Tarou's shoulders lowered from their tensed up position.

I am growing tired of waiting. You have one week, starting from midnight tonight. If you cannot finish what you intend on doing, I will take matters into my own hands.

Tarou... gulped, before letting out a shaky sigh.

"Well... Right, of course. You've been very patient about this... so fine, a week from midnight. I'll get everything done before then."

Then it's agreed. I will leave you to your misleading thoughts, then.

Tarou disliked the sensation of almost... bemusement, from the god, but he felt its' presence lessen. Perhaps not completely, as he hadn't had that privilege since meeting them, but... it gave him a bad sense of what the situation had become. He had almost sorta hoped that maybe... he'd be able to fade away, without doing such a huge risk.

Well, the god had given him a week.

He supposes it's almost time to make some fireworks.
